A.U.G Signals Ltd. (AUG) is excited to announce a new partnership with the City of Oshawa to measure air quality in the city’s downtown core.
The one-year project was launched under the Teaching City program and aims to measure air quality and traffic movements in Oshawa’s city centre to better understand the effect vehicle emissions have on the levels of pollutants in the downtown core. AUG will supply four AirSENCE™ sensors, while the traffic data will be collected by North Line Canada. The Southern Ontario Centre for Atmospheric Aerosol Research (SOCAAR), based at the University of Toronto, will provide reports based on data collected by the traffic and air sensing units and give insight into the relationship between vehicle volume and air quality.
The AirSENCE™ units have been installed on lampposts in Oshawa’s downtown, on Bond, Centre, King and Simcoe streets.
Dr. George Lampropoulos, President and CEO of AUG said, “At a time when understanding and improving air quality is sparking the interest of both scientists and local citizens, having access to reliable and trustworthy information is crucial to keeping the community informed and engaged. AUG is proud to be a part of this project where we hope it will help to improve the pedestrian experience in downtown Oshawa.”
