📢We are proud to announce that A.U.G. Signals Ltd. will receive funding from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC)’s AgriScience Program – Projects Component, an initiative under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP), to support our work in precision agriculture innovation.

This investment will directly support the advancement of AUG’s crop health assessment and crop yield prediction technologies, helping strengthen the resilience of Canadian agriculture in the face of increasing climate uncertainty.

The project, in cooperation with AAFC, Canola Council of Canada, Ahasa Inc.,  Pennmann Farms, and AdvancedUAV Ltd., will leverage Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) and multi-sensor data fusion technologies by integrating drone data, satellite imageries (e.g. RCM data, ESA Sentinel series data, and Canadian Earth Daily data), agroclimatic information, and in-situ ground truth measurements to improve the assessment and prediction of:

🌱 Crop emergence dates
🌾 In-season above-ground biomass
🍃 Leaf Area Index (LAI)
☀️ Crop Health conditions
📈 Crop yield

🚀 Exciting News: Advancing Agricultural Resilience with CAAIN

We are thrilled to announce that A.U.G. Signals Ltd. has officially launched a pioneering 24-month project to transform how we monitor and manage crop drought stress across Canada. Supported by a $594,898 investment from the Canadian Agri-Food Automation and Intelligence Network (CAAIN), this $1,902,589 initiative leverages cutting-edge AI and multi-source data to protect our food systems from the increasing threats of climate change.

We are grateful for CAAIN’s leadership in fostering a more competitive and sustainable Canadian agricultural sector. Their support is instrumental in accelerating the transition of our AI solutions from the lab to the field.

🛰️ The Innovation: Crop health and Drought Assessment technology

Our team is developing technologies for crop health and drought assessment focused on major crops important to Canada. These solutions enable scalable, daily monitoring at both regional and field levels.
By integrating satellite imagery, drone data, agroclimatic data, and in-field sensors, the Drought Severity Index (DSI) offers:

• Early Warning Systems: Detecting stress before it’s visible to the naked eye.
• Precision Management: Optimizing resource use for both irrigated and dryland farming.
• Data-Driven Resilience: Supporting smarter risk management for producers and policymakers alike.

🤝 Strategic Collaboration
This project relies on a robust network of data and expertise. We are proud to partner with AUAV Inc., Olds College Centre for Innovation (OCCI), and Pennmann Farms for ground-truth data collection and real-world testing. Dr. Ron Howard (RJH Ag Research Solutions Ltd.) also joined the project team as the agronomic expert who will provide insights, field diagnostics, and data validation.

Our model will be trained on a diverse dataset spanning 2021 through 2027, ensuring the AI is tested against extreme drought conditions and diverse agroclimatic cycles.

By providing faster, more accurate information on crop health, we are empowering agronomists and farmers to make decisions that enhance productivity, climate adaptation, and long-term food security.
